Vacation Friend or Foe Part 2-

Let's pick up where we left off... let's see.. April 20,2009... a beautiful day in CA. I started it out in Walnut Creek at the local motel 6. I wanted to start off the day rested and ready to go... I will post a pic of the room... and the menu... then I took the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train to my brother's in Berkeley and away we went... yipee or so I think... We traveled through Southern CA, through Arizona. Stopped about 11:30pm at a rest area and slept... I had done most of the driving and was beat... woke up about 2:30 am and stopped outside Flagstaff Arizona, for gas. Now for those few readers of this.. who don't know... it was HOT in CA the day we left and I was in shorts and a t-shirt.. yes shame on me for that... with my FAT belly but we didn't stop to change... let me just say it was COLD up in Flagstaff... it had gone from 95 degrees to 32 degrees in a matter of hours.. I was FREEZING cold and wanted to get into a warm car and keep driving.. well we got into New Mexico and it was a nice drive... I actually let my brother drive... heaven help me...

Vacation (If you want to call it that) 2009 PT 1... I definitely need a VACATION after this...

This whole idea of a trip to SC is not and never has been one of my ideas... people who know me know that I don't like this very much.. mainly because of things in my past that I don't like re-living... family quarrels.. just plain unhappiness.. you know things like that.. I digress, sorry.. back to the story...this whole thing started back in 2008 when my brother decided that it was time for him and his "wife" as he wants to call it.. that is a whole different blog... not starting that family story at this time... stay tuned... back to the story.. he decided that he and the wife, needed to move to SC to help my father who is now 86 take care of his house and fix it up... (pic of house is on other blog.. may appear here too.) It is getting too big for my father to take care of.. and they are going to move and live there for a year, fix it up( good luck with that) and then let dad do what he wants with the house.. sell it or they may stay there or whatever... my opinion is SELL THE PLACE!!! Back in January, I was talking w/ my brother at my birthday dinner, and he was telling me that it was going to be tough for the two of them to drive across country in April... I told him, like the dummy that I am, that I would help them drive and then fly home to CA. I figured that we would take two to three days to do the drive, and then I would spend time visiting friends that I do have there... sounds good right? well...here comes the fun..
Over the next three months, Feb, March and part of April... they are supposed to be packing to move.. I gave my notice to my landlord and got ready to move.. I should have known that something was up.. I kept getting the "yes, we are getting ready to move, but... " you insert the answer after but... answers when I would call to see how things were going... w/them moving... I finally got an answer that we were not going to be ready in April to do the move, but we are still going to SC to see what is up. About two weeks before the trip, I went to see my brother at his home and was told that I would be driving out there by myself and that they would follow in a couple of days.. I basically told my brother where to stuff that idea... I was helping them... not going there into the "firezone" by myself.. not EVER IN A MILLION YEARS happening... he needed to re-think that plan NOW!!! So the decision was made that he and I would drive out there and see what is happening and then I would fly home and move to his home in a month or so after... sounded good at the time... so here comes April 20th... the day to leave. I will continue the adventure tomorrow evening.. with pics...
